More of the White Stuff (I'm not talking about dandruff)

Well, well, well. Let's see here. It is officially the last weekend in April and yesiree we got another good foot or more of snow. A bit melted today, (Praise the Lord!) and hopefully the rest will melt this week. I didn't feel it necessary to post more pictures of snow, because it looked just like it did a couple weeks ago when it did the same thing. Welcome to Minnesota. I try to look at the positive side of things though, so let's look at the pros in these types of circumstances.

Pros:
-I got to wear my nice winter jacket that I had purchased in Chicago this past February and get more use out of it.
-I got good exercise unburying (that's a made up word) my car.
-Snow angels are fun to make.
-Christmas music can be listened to again.
-My red turtle neck sweater and smartwool socks were thrilled to be pulled out again.
-Good conversations with fine folk that started out with talking about the weather.

Cons:
-we won't go there

Thrifty Finds

This coming fall I will be transferring to Minnesota State University Moorhead! I'm very excited to be able to live much closer to some of my best friends! I'll actually be living in an apartment with my friend, Leah, and another friend, Ashley, who I don't know quite as well, yet. Leah was telling me how we might need some dishes, so I went out and found myself at the local "Goodwill." I found these fine plates (pictured above) that have matching bowls to go with them! The set of 4 plates and 4 bowls cost me a grand total of $2.00!! I was thrilled. I am a lover of thrift stores, and perhaps you will be, too, after reading this and seeking out the one nearest you.

A Tribute to Leslie Scott

Jenga is by far one of my favorite games. It's super simple. You can play it with people of all ages. You don't have to concentrate super hard (unless you're attempting to pull a very tight block from the stack). When you get tired of actually playing the game you can just start building other random "houses" or creations out of the blocks. For all of this, we have Leslie Scott to thank. Leslie was the inventor of this game and the great lady that decided to share it with the rest of us. (Milton Bradley published the game in 1987.) Want to hear another cool fact behind the game? Well, Leslie Scott grew up in Africa and spoke Swahili. The word "Jenga" means "to build" in Swahili. Pretty sweet, eh? I thought so. (Thanks Google.)
Zach, Sarah, and I all played Jenga while at Dunn Bros. one evening and had a grand time. (I went to CBC with Zach's brother, Alex. Sarah went to CBC with Zach's sister, Sarah. Zach goes to BSU.....small world.)

Study Break

A couple nights ago Sarah came over and we walked over to Cameron Park for a little fresh air/study break. It's a cute little park that's about a half a block from where I live!
This is Sarah being crazy....again. Even though we're excited it's slowly getting warmer, it's not quite warm enough to fall into the lake yet!!

Mexican Train

Sarah Olson is a good friend of mine here in Bemidji. (You may recognize her from working at camp a few years ago.) She is always ready to hang out and have a good time! :) We play a lot of games, which is such a cool thing....I think. Games are so great. They provide good, clean entertainment and you can really get to know people through playing games. Here is a picture of Natalie (left) and Sarah. Natalie is also super cool--and super funny.

This particular night we were playing "Mexican Train." (a dominoes game) We didn't start it until 11pm on a Friday night. Sarah started getting the giggles so bad....Natalie and I just had to laugh. The video is towards the end of her meltdown.

April Showers Bring May Flowers

Here are some pictures of the snow we got this past weekend. These are the pictures my aunt and uncle took....I didn't make it in time before it started melting. There is still quite a bit of snow, but not covering the trees like you can see in these pictures. Perhaps spring will come in May!My aunt Char measuring the snow on their picnic table that had been completely clear before. Don't the trees look pretty behind her?

20 inches-there ended up being a total accumulation of 22 inches!

"April showers bring May flowers"....or so we thought. Here in Bemidji we apparently like to have winter as long as possible. Today we received 20 inches of brand new snow--and it's STILL coming down! I'll take pictures of it in the daylight tomorrow. It's quite the sight. Merry Christmas!
